ABSTRACT

Objective :To analyze influence of fitness intervention on blood pressure control and prognosis in aged pa—tients with essential hypertension (EH).Methods : A total of 240 EH patients treated in our hospital were randomly and equally divided into routine treatment group and fitness intervention group .Blood pressure , quality of life (QOL) and incidence and development of target organ damage were compared between two groups after one month . Results : Compared with routine treatment group after one—month intervention ,there were significant reductions in blood pressure [(145. 65 ± 7. 89)/(98. 45 ± 9. 17) mmHg vs.(130.34 ± 8.98)/(82.11 ± 6.43) mmHg] ,scores of material life [ (78. 44 ± 8.23) scores vs.(64.68 ± 6.76) scores] ,mental function [ (76. 26 ± 7.54) scores vs.(67. 35 ± 6.65) scores] ,physical function [ (77.28 ± 7.53) scores vs.(59.28 ± 6. 12) scores] and social function [ (78. 73 ± 6.89) scores vs .(58.43 ± 6. 12) scores] of general quality of life inventory (GQOLI) ,carotid intima—media thick—ness [ (1. 05 ± 0.12) mm vs.(0.91 ± 0.09) mm] and brachial—ankle pulse wave velocity [ (1699.56 ± 240.90) mm/s vs .(1438. 56 ± 221. 78) mm/s] ,and significant rise in estimated glomerular filtration rate [ (63.21 ± 11.21) ml min-1 1.73m-2 vs .(76. 12 ± 10. 47) ml min-1 1. 73m-2 ] and ankle—brachial index [(0. 92 ± 0.13) vs.(1.00 ± 0.08)] in fitness intervention group , P= 0.001 all .Conclusion : Improving fitness can effectively control blood pressure , relieve degree of target organ damage and improve quality of life in aged patients with essential hypertension .
